Directorate of Research
Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (Formerly Allahabad Agricultural Institute), Allahabad has contributed immensely towards bringing sustainability in agricultural production and transfer of technology to the Nation and the State of Uttar Pradesh. In order to strengthening and streamlines various research activities of Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Allahabad, The Directorate of Research was established in the year 2000 under the stewardship of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Most Rev. Prof. Rajendra B. Lal.
Directorate of Research is responsible for guiding, coordinating and implementing research activities of the University and caters extensively to the farming community of the State and Nation in collaboration with academic and extension programmes, while maintaining high research standards. Additionally, this Directorate is also responsible for formulating research policies of the University, patent development and research coordination with other Universities/ National & International Research Centres and various funding agencies. The area under its jurisdiction comprises of seven districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh
Directorate of Research coordinates research activities of the University and is responsible for priority setting, guiding and its implementation. Led by award winning scientists and academicians, every school and department is striving towards academic and research excellence. The teaching and research faculty of the University are trained in specialized areas of agriculture, sciences and technology and are involved in both basic and applied research in their respective discipline.
Several industrial houses, National and International Research Institutions have shown their interest in SHUATS for conducting researches in areas of mutual interest. Many research projects have been sanctioned from reputed institutions like ICAR, CSSIR, ICFRE, DBT, DST, NOVOD Board, Ministry of Rural Development, ISRO, BARC, UPCST & UPCAR etc. At present 46 externally funded projects and 240 University sponsored projects are in progress.
