Academic activities during Second Wave of Covid 19

The general and academic governance of University as per the guidelines/advisories of State/Central Govts., issued from time to time considering trend the Covid 19 Curve and safety of employees and students of the University.

a. Plan – A : On-line academic activities (100% online academic activities)
Applicable to Spring semester 2021.

b. Plan – B : On-line and Off-line classes both : Blended mode
UGC Committee’s Concept note (Online classes -40% and 60% off-line classes, End Term Examination – off-line)
This Plan may be adoptable and applicable for Autumn/Fall semester 2021 from 15th July, 2021 to 20th Decemebr, 2021.

c. Plan – C : On campus Academic activities (100% off-line academic activities)
Applicable from Spring semester 2022 (from 6th January 2022 to 20th May, 2022) as per the academic regulations of the University.

Note - Offline classes in Autumn / Fall Semester, 2021 and Spring semester 2022 may be gradually started as and when permitted by the State / Central Government.

PLAN – A : Online Academic Activities (On-going Spring semester, 2021)
i. Online registration and online/offline classes
a. On line registration and classes for 4th, 6th and 8th semesters for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were started from January, 2021.
b. Online theory and practical classes were started for 2nd semester from 24th February, 2021.

ii. Fee Realization from defaulter students
a.Deans and Heads of the Departments must ensure that online fee of defaulter students of their Institute/College/School/Department is deposited. The list of the defaulter students has been provide by the Dy. Registrar, Examinations to all Deans and Heads of the Departments.
b. Only bonafide students are allowed to register in course(s) with their official email ID.

iii. Academic Format
Time Table, Teaching Schedule of the Faculty member, Monthly teaching report, attendance of students, etc. is to be followed and maintained.

iv. Online Continuous Assessment of Students
a. Module - I
i. Online Assignments – 4 (weightage - 20%)
ii. Online Quizzes – 2 (weightage - 10%)
iii. Online Tests – 2 (weightage - 30%)
iv. Attendance : weightage – 10%
v. Online group project/Online proctored End Term Examination (weightage - 30%)

b. Module - II
i. Online Assignments – 4 (weightage - 20%)
ii.Online Quizzes – 2 (weightage - 10%)
iii.Online Tests – 4 (One in every month; August to November, 2020) (weightage - 60%)
iv.Attendance : more than 75 % (Weightage 10%)

NOTE : Institute/College/School/Departments may use their autonomy for using either Module – I or Module – II and may have flexibility for distribution of weightage as per need of each course.

c. Online continuous assessment of practical component i. Departments will get the videos of all practical classes prepared by concerned Faculty members and will demonstrate and explain the entire procedure through video.
ii. The format for every practical/experiment will be provided by the concerned faculty members.
iii. Every practical/experiment will be submitted by the students and assessed by the concerned faculty member.

d. Duration of Spring Semester, 2021
Considering the unprecedented situation due to Covid 19 and future prospects of terminal semester students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the online assessment modules of 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th semester students (Spring semester 2021) may be completed on the basis of syllabus covered of courses.
i. Module –I : with this module Proctored online examination/project will be completed by 25th June, 2021.
ii. Module –II : This module will also be completed by 25th June, 2021.

Online continuous assessment of students of 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th semester students (Spring semester 2021) of every undergraduate and postgraduate academic programme shall be over by 25th June, 2021.
Deans, Associate Deans and Heads of the Departments will ensure to arrange marks of every course of every undergraduate and postgraduate academic programme offered by their Institute /College /School/ Department to the office of the Controller of Examinations by 30th June, 2021 positively.

v. Online back, incomplete, re-registration examinations
Online back, incomplete, re-registration examinations will be conducted in the month of July, 2021, as per the designed SoPs by Controller of Examinations.

vi. Project/RAWE/Experiential Learning Training of undergraduate programmes i. Laboratory based /field experiments based projects may be transformed to review based/secondary data based projects or software driven based projects and may be completed including viva voce examination by 15th July, 2021. ii. RAWE/Experiential Learning/Training and other modules of student Ready programme may be completed including viva voce examination by 15th July, 2021.

vii. Research work for postgraduate and PhD students
a. Postgraduate students -
It was resolved that laboratory based /field experiments based research may be transformed to review based/secondary data based research or software driven based research. Online Pre-submission seminar and final viva voce examination for graduate research may be conducted with defined SOP prepared by Dean PGS, if the research work, analysis of data, rough draft, corrections, plagiarism check etc. is completed.

b. Doctoral Students –
It was also resolved that online Pre-submission seminar and final viva voce examination for doctoral research may be conducted with defined SOP prepared by Dean PGS, if the research work is completed, analysis of data, rough draft, corrections, plagiarism check etc. is completed.

PLAN – B : Autumn/Fall semester 2021 (Blended Mode -40% online and 60% off-line classes)
i. Online classes for Autumn/Fall semester 2021 will start from 15th July, 2021 for 3rd, 5th and 7th Semesters (2nd, 3rd and 4th years), however this semester will be in a blended Mode - 40% online and 60% off-line classes.
ii. Classes will be held till 3rd December, 2021 and off line ETE will conducted from 6th to 20th December, 2021.
iii. Students of 3rd, 5th and 7th Semesters may deposit the fee of Autumn/Fall semester 2021 form 1st June, 2021.
iv. With online mode, 40% of syllabus of every course will be covered by 10th September, 2021 and remaining 60% syllabus will be covered by 30th November, 2021 by off-line mode.
v. Further, offline academic activities in Autumn / Fall Semester, 2021 may be gradually started as and when permitted by the State / Central Government.
vi. All students will be required to bring COVID vaccinated certificate at time of attending the off line classes.

PLAN – C : Spring semester 2022 (100% On-campus academic activities)
i. Since, Autumn/fall semester 2021 will be completed as per academic schedule and hopefully Covid 19’s 2nd wave may be gone by that time, it was resolved that spring semester 2022 may be gradually started with off line classes mode, as and when permitted by the State / Central Government.
ii. Therefore, Spring semester 2022 may be started from 6th January, 2022 for 4th, 6th and 8th Semesters students (2nd, 3rd and 4th years) with 100% off line mode for academic activities as per the academic regulations of the University.

On campus activities
i. On campus academic activities as per the guideleines/directives/advisories/SoPs from central/state govts./SHUATS shall be strictly followed.
a. State Govt. Guidelines/advisories
b. Central Govt.’s Guidelines/advisories
c. SHUATS Guidelines
d. SOPs SHUAT
e. SOPs will be designed and developed by the Deans and Heads of the Departments according to the requirements of their Institutes / Colleges/ Schools for theory and practical classes, project work, postgraduate and doctoral research.

ii. The guidelines/directives/advisories/SoPs issued by the Central/State Governments, specially making an allowance for every component of an educational institution of higher learning. The SoPs developed by SHUATS will ensure that comprehensive guidelines and protocols are to be followed by concerned offices, Directorates, Institutes / Colleges / Schools / Departments, library, class rooms, laboratories, hostels, mess, canteens, playgrounds, research farm, auxiliary units, stores, official residences etc.

iii. Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students are to be vaccinated when they will join the off line mode of academic activities. They will be required to produce COVID vaccinated certificate at time of attending the off line classes.
